Es gibt da diese legend\u00e4re Anekdote, die Glenn Gould 1964 in einer Graduiertenansprache am Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto<\/a> zum besten gegeben hat. Darin drehte es sich um einen Staubsauger und seine Entdeckung, das die – zumindest seine – innere Tonvorstellung viel m\u00e4chtiger und befriedigender sein kann als jedes \u00e4ussere Erklingen.<\/p>\n

Die entscheidende Passage:<\/p>\n

I happened to be practising at the piano one day \u2013 I clearly recall, not that it matters, that it was a fugue by Mozart, K. 394, for those of you who play it too \u2013 and suddenly a vacuum cleaner started up just beside the instrument. Well, the result was that in the louder passages, this luminously diatonic music in which Mozart deliberately imitates the technique of Sebastian Bach became surrounded with a halo of vibrato, rather the effect that you might get if you sang in the bathtub with both ears full of water and shook your head from side to side all at once. And in the softer passages I couldn’t hear any sound that I was making at all. I could feel, of course \u2013 I could sense the tactile relation with the keyboard, which is replete with its own kind of acoustical associations, and I could imagine what I was doing, but I couldn’t actually hear it. But the strange thing was that all of it suddenly sounded better than it had without the vacuum cleaner, and those parts which I couldn’t actually hear sounded best of all. Well, for years thereafter, and still today, if I am in a great hurry to acquire an imprint of some new score on my mind, I simulate the effect of the vacuum cleaner by placing some totally contrary noises as close to the instrument as I can. It doesn’t matter what noise, really \u2013 TV Westerns, Beatles records; anything loud will suffice \u2013 because what I managed to learn through the accidental coming together of Mozart and the vacuum cleaner was that the inner ear of the imagination is very much more powerful a stimulant than is any amount of outward observation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Worum dreht es sich? Ein aussen kaschierendes Ger\u00e4usch verunm\u00f6glichte ihm sich selbst zuzuh\u00f6ren und er verliess sich daraufhin nur auf die innere Tonvorstellung, mit der Entdeckung das diese dadurch viel eindr\u00fccklicher wirkte, als wenn er den real erklingenden T\u00f6nen nachlaufend sozusagen zugeh\u00f6rt h\u00e4tte. In sp\u00e4teren Jahren hat er diesen Effekt mit allem zu erzeugen versucht, was gen\u00fcgend L\u00e4rm machen konnte um sich nicht zu h\u00f6ren: zB Beatles Platten oder mehrere Radiostationen gleichzeitig. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Der aufmerksame Selbstversuch lohnt sich allemal. Spiel ein St\u00fcck oder eine Passage w\u00e4hrend kontr\u00e4re Musik laut ert\u00f6nt oder mit Kopfh\u00f6rern, \u00fcber die Du Rauschen h\u00f6rst. Wichtig ist das man sich selbst nicht mehr h\u00f6ren kann.<\/p>\n

Eine andere Versuchsanordnung w\u00e4re: Nur die Fingers\u00e4tze spielen oder deutlich motorisch markieren und die dazugeh\u00f6rigen T\u00f6ne so deutlich wie m\u00f6glich imaginieren. Dies im Wechsel, wenn die Tonvorstellung unpr\u00e4zise ist: markiert spielen und auditiv imaginieren, erklingend spielen, markieren, vergleichen. <\/p>\n

Wie Hal Galper in einem Workshop (siehe Youtube) sagte: <\/p>\n
